Small businesses must be heard

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate David Kendall believes that Westminster needs more MPs that have got practical experience of running a small business and know what it is like to face the day to day challenges of operating a business through these difficult economic times.

David Kendall believes there are too many career politicians at Westminster who have never had a proper job and don't have clue what it is like to run a business. If he was elected to represent Brentwood & Ongar on 6th May he would make sure the voices of small businesses were heard and campaign for change on the following issues:

Highlight the difficulties small businesses are facing getting credit from the banks.
Cut the amount of red tape and new legislation
Call for small business rates based on "site value" rather than "rateable value".
Make Small business rate relief automatic and not have to be applied for.
Give small businesses practical support to go from being a "one man band" to taking on an extra person.

He said:

"There are hundreds of small businesses across Brentwood & Ongar desperate for their voices to be heard and for someone to champion their views. I would like to use my own experience as a business owner and what I have learnt from my colleagues on the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce to be that champion and represent their views.

"For far to long the issues facing small businesses have been ignored and it is high time that the Government of whatever colour started to listen to their genuine concerns".

David owns and operates his own Carpet & Upholstery cleaning business which he set up six years ago and has over 1500 customers from all over Brentwood, Ongar and beyond.
