Cllr David Kendall, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Brentwood Borough Council, has expressed his shock and sadness on hearing the news that Alan Cherry has passed away today after a short illness.

Alan Cherry CBE DL was a Freeman of the Borough of Brentwood, Chairman of the Town's Renaissance Group and a well respected figure in the business community both locally and nationally.

David said:

"Alan Cherry will be greatly missed by many people across our community.

"Although I only had the opportunity to work with him for a short while as a member of the Renaissance group, I greatly appreciated his judgement, his willingness to listen to all sides of the argument and his passion and commitment to improve the commercial viability of our town.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time".
